Chemical Peel

Chemical peels help to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, combat dry skin, smooth rough texture, lighten dark spots, soften the skin, control active acne, exfoliate razor bumps, may help to reduce keratoses (pre-cancers), and add an over-all boost to your home skin care program.

Our chemical peel is a deeper treatment than a glycolic peel. After treatment, the skin should remain dry for the first night. For the next 5 days you should begin washing your face 3 times a day applying a thin layer of Vaseline or other product if recommended. Usually, the face will turn a deep pink or red (like a severe sunburn). The skin will be very tight like a mask for a couple of days, and then slowly begin to crack and peel. Heaviest peeling usually occurs within 3 to 5 days. However, peeling occurs on its own and may vary from person to person.

Once peeling occurs you may be tempted to peel away the dead skin, but do not peel or pick the skin off. To do so will cause scarring, and also invites infection, hyper/hypo pigmentation, milia (pimples), prolonged redness and textural changes, and some may experience swelling.

Generally, the dryer the skin, the better the peel. If necessary, you may spray your face with cool water. This will help to relieve tightness and encourage live cell-building.

After treatment use sunblock of spf 30 or higher if spending time outdoors. Do not use topical exfoliates or scrubs. On the fifth day after treatment you may resume moisturizing regimen.

For best results this peel is recommend bi-monthly and maintained by using Retin-A and Hydroquinone. A series is recommended.

***If you have a history of cold sores/herpes, pregnant or nursing, have history of keloids or abnormal scarring then you should let the clinician know before having this peel***
